The eyes are fundamental organs in our day to day and require special care and hygiene that we often do not take into account.
Our body has natural mechanisms to protect the eyes from external aggressions, such as tears, eyelids or eyelashes, but even these areas require our attention.
Eye problems
- Some signs tell us that our eyes, especially the eyelids and eyelashes, require more intensive hygiene to avoid infections and other eye pathologies.
- Dryness and inflammation of the eyelids, the appearance of crusts on the edge of the eyelashes, eye fatigue or the habitual use of cosmetics, makeup and contact lenses are some of them.
How to clean the eyes
- There are different treatments to improve eye cleanliness depending on the problem we present. For cases of dry eyelids or eyestrain, ophthalmic baths can be made based on plant compounds such as calendula.
- Ophthalmic solutions can also be used in cases of accidents or minor injuries, for example the presence of dust or sand inside the eye or contact with toxic and irritating substances.
Natural eye remedies
- Frequently, natural and home remedies can be very useful when it comes to achieving proper eye hygiene or relieving fatigue from using computers and lack of sleep. For example, chamomile infusions are highly recommended to clean the inside of the eyes and eyelids. It can be applied with a wet tissue allowing it to drip gently.
- Lemon is another natural product with beneficial properties in the case of suffering from conjunctivitis. The most common is to mix a few drops of lemon in water and take baths in the eye area, letting this citrus act as a homemade antiseptic.
