Blood pressure is highly variable, and only when it is permanently high should it be considered as hypertension. To know if you suffer from high blood pressure, you have to measure it following a series of recommendations.
Measure blood pressure
- You must be relaxed and go to the consultation without rushing.
- You don’t have to have eaten.
- Do not drink alcohol or coffee before measuring the pressure.
- Do not perform physical exercise half an hour before.
- If you need to urinate before taking your blood pressure.
- Rest for 5-10 minutes sitting before taking your blood pressure, with your back resting on the chair, without crossing your legs and with your forearm resting on the table.
- You should not talk or move when your blood pressure is measured.
